For the third year running, FundEX will return to Riversands Incubation Hub, South Africa will in August the 16th connect entrepreneurs to potential investors. The theme of this year’s conference reads, ‘Secrets of Scale’.
FundEX South Africa has been running its entrepreneurship conferences for the past two years. The aim of FundEX is basically to bring together people with ideas and those who are willing to turn the ideas into action by pumping in the requisite financial resources.
FundEX is open to all business owners seeking funding for the next stage of their business growth. Those looking to secure funding will meet funding professionals interested in the local funding landscape, organisations and individuals from the broader SME eco-system, government funders, commercial funders, alternative and innovative funders as well as equity funders.
Running under the theme Secrets of Scale, this year’s conference will be looking particularly at how to grow a fundable business. Discussions at the conference will focus on these four key areas (i) learning first-hand what funders look for before investing in a business (ii) discussions on why funding applications are declined (iii) discussions on the concept of match funding (iv) discussions on what to do after receiving the funding.
Apart from the main discussions, other topics that will be discussed include how to raise funds for a social enterprise, digital tools that small business can use in automating business processes and crowdfunding strategies for entrepreneurs.
The Chief Investment Officer of MSG Africa Group, Andile Khumalo is the main speaker at this year’s conference and he will lead the majority of discussions.
Speaking ahead of the third FundEX conference, the Chief Executive Officer of Riversands Incubation Hub, Jenny Retief said that “We measure the success of FundEX against the number of entrepreneurs who secure funding after the event. Contrary to popular belief, there is funding available. This event aims to provide practical guidance on what funding is available and what it takes to access this capital.” Jenny encouraged entrepreneurs to register and attend the conference as there are a lot of funders who are willing to pour funds into the right businesses.
Jenny went further to state that for the first time in the short history of FundEX, we will select 10 entrepreneurs who are going to be provided with a finance coach. The 10 entrepreneurs and the finance coach will establish a relationship and work together beyond the one-day conference. In order to be considered for this opportunity, entrepreneurs need to apply to the ‘fast-track’ program. Only those attending the FundEX conference this year are eligible.
All entrepreneurs who want to be a part of this year’s conference need to register and book their places by visiting the official FundEX South Africa website, http://www.fundex.co.za/. The Inspired Africa readers will get a 35 percent discount when registering if they use the access code, AFRICA.
Last year’s FundEX brought together more than 600 entrepreneurs and a higher number is expected this year. Riversands Incubation Hub, where the FundEX conference is going to be hosted is located off William Nicol Drive near Dainfern in Johannesburg, South Africa.
